Have you heard or seen the latest Korean horse dance, Gangnam Style? The latest dance craze involves … galloping around as if you were riding a horse. Sounds awkward, but it’s caught on, thanks to South Korean rapper Psy (that’s short for Psycho; real name Park Jae-sang).

They all started with an idea, a Belief that they could do something about their conditions, be it tough economic situation, youthful enthusiasm of sharing of happy good times or simply thinking you could achieve your dream at any age.

At that time, they did not visualize in their wildest dreams that their actions can capture the imaginations of people around the world, and even impact their lives today.

Do you have a dream or dreams of your own?

Do you believe you can achieve these, just like them?

My question to you is “Why not you”?

What is holding you back from achieving your dreams?

Please think about that? It is all in your mind. You have to believe in yourself that you can do it and you will.

Illuminations

Electricity. The role electricity plays in our lives is obvious. It enhances our productivity, comfort, safety, health, and economy. So much so that we take it for granted that whenever we plug our gadgets into the wall socket, the power will be there. After hours, we have buzzing networks of bars, nightclubs, theatres and events that cater to people tastes, around major cities in the world. Even Formula 1 racing could be organized to operate at night in Singapore.

In 19th century, night time was very much different from what is in today. In those days, if you want to travel at night from one place to another, you needed to rely on your own kerosine lamp or moonlight to light your way. Everywhere was in darkness. It was very inconvenient and inefficient to do anything at night.

One man felt so strongly about doing something about it that he embarked upon a journey to light up the night environment as day. Many before him had tried and failed. He succeeded and was recognized today as the inventor of first commercially practical incandescent light. Besides this, he spearheaded patented electricity distribution in 1880, which was essential to capitalize on the invention of the electric lamp.

Who was this man? To know more about him, please use the attached hyperlink. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Edison#Electric_light

Running the mile in less than 4 minutes was thought to be an impossible feat for any human being to do. Yet, in 1954, it was first achieved by Sir Roger Gilbert Bannister in 3:59.4. The “four minute barrier” has since been broken by many male athletes, and is now the standard of all male professional middle distance runners. The mile record is held by Morocco’s Hicham El Guerroui, who ran a time of 3:43.13 in Rome in 1999. In less than 50 years the mile record has been lowered by almost 17 seconds.

It all started from a man, whose idea of the word “Impossible” as a declaration “I’m possible”. They were the trailblazers in their endeavors which future generations could build upon and achieve greater heights . We should be thankful that through our pioneers’ efforts in every field, we could enjoy the modern amenities and living standards of today.

We need to believe that we have the power to make changes in our lives for the better. Be it losing weight, getting a better job, starting a business or become a better and a happier person, we all have the choice.

Reflections

Have you ever wondered why each time you think of something, that very thing appear right in front of your eyes, the very next moment?

Let say, you own a brand new car today. When you drive happily along any street, you start to realize that they are also, many others who own the same make of car as yours.

You are happy that a new member will be joining your family soon when your wife is pregnant. Everywhere you go, you observe that there are other pregnant women in your office or in the street too.

Is it a coincidence or something more magical is happening to your life now?

It is your mind reality at work.

“As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” (As a Man Thinketh is a literary essay of James Allen, published in 1902) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsOzmFEQKSQ

The book opens with the statement:

Mind is the Master power that moulds and makes,

And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes

The tool of Thought, and, shaping what he wills,

Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills: —

He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass:

Environment is but his looking-glass.

To quote some of the things that have been said on the human mind:-

  • Every action and feeling is preceded by a thought.
  • Circumstance does not make the man, it reveals him to himself.
  • Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves, they therefore remain bound.
  • Men do not attract what they want, but what they are.

Like science or any invention discovered since Aeons, you can do great good or great harm to yourself and the environment by the Power of Your Thoughts and its Manifestations.

The choice is yours.

Bye from now.
