The Power Of Now 2

In last week’s blogpost, we looked at Ageless Body. Timeless Mind.

Unlike physical health, the parameters of mental health are rather ill-defined.  Like physical health, mental health is not simply the absence of mental illness, but a state of positive psychological and social functioning.

This week topic is The Power Of Now.

How many of us can claim that we are consciously aware of the   environment we are in, especially in public places?

If we are alone, and not  doing anything in particular at that time, we are possibly deep in thoughts or played with our smartphones, to pass time.  Our bodies may be in a certain place but our attention and awareness of the environment are nearly non existent.

As to what we are thinking of, these are either on something that had happened to us in the past or something that we look forward to or fearful about in the future.

Unfortunately, the negative thoughts have a stronger hold of your attention, most of the time.

Our minds are in a continuous flux of thinking but not at present moment.

If these negative thinking patterns continue for long period, it become a permanent part of the program we gave to our subconscious minds.

Because 75 percent or more of our early programming was of the negative kind, we automatically followed suit with our own self-talk – our own self programming of the same negative kind.

“Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.”
― Mahatma Gandhi,  Recognised Father of the Indian independence movement.

“A man’s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind.”
― James Allen, author of ” As a Man Thinketh”

So, the first step in self directed thought pattern is to know what we are thinking in this very present moment.

Ask the following:-

Is this thought inspires, motivates or guides me towards achieving my  goals?

If not, replace it with another thought  that can.

If you have thoughts of yourself as being in negative mood and loss in focus, you could do the following self-talk:

I am alert and aware. My senses are keen and sharp. My mind is clear. I am in touch with everything around me and in control of my life.

Conscious of the NOW moment.

Be proactive to take positive action to benefit of the power of NOW.

In 7 days time, we will discuss on Self Talk for Prosperity and Good Health.

Bye from now.
